About Zivora

We started because nobody would answer a simple question

“What is this foam made of?” Two evenings of emails, no straight answer. The shop began as a spreadsheet of the brands that did answer — and it has been run the same way ever since.

Our mission

Make the safe choice the easy choice

A parent should not need a chemistry degree, an afternoon, and a tolerance for unanswered emails to work out whether something is safe for their child. That work should be done before the product is on sale — by the shop, not the customer.

So we do it. Every product is tested and documented before it is listed, and the evidence is printed on the page rather than summarised as a reassuring adjective.

Our vision

A children's shop you don't have to fact-check

We want a parent to be able to buy from us without opening a second tab. That means publishing certificate numbers, stating what a product is not good for, and keeping critical reviews on the page where they belong.

It also means staying small enough that a person has genuinely handled everything we sell.

What we hold to

Four decisions we don't revisit

Parent-first, not margin-first

We turn down products we would not put in our own homes, including profitable ones. The buying team has no revenue target attached to what they approve.

Evidence, not adjectives

'Non-toxic' means nothing. We publish test standards, certificate numbers and measured figures — on the product page, not in a downloadable PDF.

Made to be handed down

We buy for construction and fabric weight, so a garment survives a second child. Longevity is the most meaningful sustainability decision in this category.

Honest about the trade-offs

Every product page includes what the item is not good for. A shop that only tells you the good parts is a catalogue, not advice.

How we got here

Seven years, briefly

  1. A frustrating evening

Our founder spent two nights emailing brands asking what their play mat foam was made of. Nobody answered with a number. The shop started as a spreadsheet of the ones that did.

  2. The intake standard

We wrote down what a product has to prove before we will list it — chemical migration, mechanical safety, cord safety, off-gassing. One in nine submissions passes it.

  3. Certificates on the page

We started publishing certificate numbers and test standards directly on product pages. It is still the thing customers tell us made them switch.

  4. Paediatric review

Every safety claim on the site is now reviewed by a practising paediatrician before it publishes. Nothing goes live on our word alone.

  5. 48,000 families

And a returns rate under four percent — which we treat as the honest measure of whether the curation is working.

Ask us anything

If there is something you want to know about a product that isn't on its page, that is a gap in our work — tell us and we'll fix the page, not just answer the email.

Safe for babies

Every product independently tested before we list it.

Paediatrician reviewed

Our safety claims are checked by a practising paediatrician.

BPA & phthalate free

Certified non-toxic materials, figures published in full.

Authentic, always

Bought direct from the brand. No grey-market stock.

One email a month. Genuinely useful.

New arrivals, restocks you asked to be told about, and a short parenting read. No daily discount spam — we'd unsubscribe from that too.
